Private transfers from Luxembourg Airport
Luxembourg Airport is compact, and the drive into town is short, but that is exactly why arrivals can feel rushed: you land, clear the hall within minutes and then need to work out buses, tickets and stops in a city you may not know. A pre-booked transfer removes that step.
You book online and receive instant confirmation. The day before pickup we send your driver's name, phone number and number plate, so you know who to look for. Your driver follows your flight, and if it lands late, they wait for you rather than leaving on the original schedule.
Pricing is fixed per vehicle, VAT included, so the fare is the same whether you travel alone or with colleagues. You can choose a sedan for up to a few passengers, a minivan for families and groups with luggage, or a VIP vehicle for business arrivals and special occasions. Plans change, so cancellation is free until 24 hours before pickup.
Besides transfers, you can also book a chauffeur by the hour for meetings around Kirchberg and the city, and lounge access at selected terminals.
Arriving at Luxembourg Airport
Almost all passenger flights use Terminal A, the main modern terminal building. A smaller Terminal B has been used for some regional and turboprop flights and sits next to it; if your booking mentions Terminal B, allow a few extra minutes to walk across.
Luxembourg is part of the Schengen Area. If you arrive from another Schengen country, such as Germany, France or Portugal, there is normally no passport check on arrival. Flights from outside Schengen, including the UK and destinations such as Turkey or North Africa, pass through passport control before baggage reclaim.
The airport is small by European standards, so walking distances are short and the route from the aircraft to the baggage belts is easy to follow. Once you have your bags and passed customs, you exit into the public arrivals hall on the ground floor of Terminal A. This is where your driver waits for you. Because the terminal is so compact, many travellers are through the hall within 15–30 minutes of landing when there is no queue at passport control.
Drive times to the city, Kirchberg and beyond
Distances from Findel are short within Luxembourg, and many travellers also continue into Germany, France or Belgium. Typical drive times in normal traffic:
- Kirchberg (European institutions, banks, Luxexpo): 10 minutes, about 5 km
- City centre / Ville Haute and the Old Town: 15–20 minutes, about 7 km
- Gare district (central railway station): 15–25 minutes
- Cloche d'Or business district: 20–25 minutes
- Esch-sur-Alzette and Belval: 25–35 minutes, about 25 km
- Echternach and the Mullerthal region: 30–35 minutes
- Remich and the Moselle wine villages: 25–30 minutes
- Vianden: 45–55 minutes
- Trier (Germany): 40–45 minutes, about 45 km
- Metz (France): 50–60 minutes, about 75 km
Morning and evening rush hours can slow traffic noticeably, especially on routes towards the city and around the cross-border commuter roads. Your driver chooses the route on the day, and because the price is fixed per vehicle, a slow journey does not change what you pay.
Public transport or a private transfer?
Luxembourg is unusual: public transport is free across the country since March 2020, second class. Buses link the airport with Kirchberg, the city centre and the central station, with lines such as 16 and 29 stopping outside the terminal. A tram extension to the airport has been planned check whether the tram to Findel is now in service.
For a solo traveller with hand luggage heading to a central hotel, the bus is a sensible option. A private transfer makes more sense when:
- you are travelling with heavy suitcases, children, a pushchair or sports equipment
- your hotel is not close to a bus stop, or you are going to a village in the Moselle, Mullerthal or Ardennes
- you are crossing the border to Trier, Metz or Thionville, where connections need changes
- you land late in the evening, when services are less frequent night timetables
- you are arriving for a meeting and want to work or make calls on the way
With a transfer, you go door to door without changes, and your driver already knows where you are going.
Where to meet your driver
Your driver waits for you in the public arrivals hall of Terminal A, just after you leave the baggage and customs area exit doors on the ground floor. Look for a sign showing your name; the hall is small, so drivers are easy to spot.
The day before your transfer, you receive your driver's name, phone number and the vehicle's plate. Save the number in your phone before you fly. If you are delayed at passport control or baggage reclaim, there is no need to worry: your driver is tracking the flight and will wait. A quick message once you have your bags is helpful, especially if you need to stop at a lost-luggage desk.
From the arrivals hall, it is a short walk with your driver to the vehicle, parked in the short-stay car park directly opposite the terminal. If you have arrived at Terminal B, contact your driver when you land so they can meet you at the right exit.
Travelling with family or a group
Families and groups often find Luxembourg Airport easy to handle, but the onward journey is where a private vehicle helps most. Juggling children, a pushchair and several suitcases on a bus is tiring after a flight, and many family-friendly stays, such as holiday homes in the Mullerthal, campsites near Vianden or rentals along the Moselle, are well away from frequent public transport.
Because the price is per vehicle, not per person, a minivan for a family or a team travelling together is often a straightforward choice. When you book, tell us the number of passengers, the amount of luggage and any bulky items such as golf bags, bikes or ski gear, so the right vehicle is sent.
For company delegations visiting Kirchberg or attending events at Luxexpo, you can book several vehicles for the same flight, or add a chauffeur by the hour to move the group between meetings, hotels and dinner during the stay.
