Private transfers from Antwerp Airport
Antwerp Airport sits inside the city's ring of suburbs rather than far out in the countryside, so most journeys are short. Its proximity also means taxis can be scarce when several flights land close together, and a pre-booked car removes that uncertainty.
With Benelux Limo you book a private vehicle, not a seat in a shared shuttle. The price is fixed per vehicle with VAT included, so it does not change with traffic on the Ring or with the number of suitcases you bring. You receive instant confirmation, and cancellation is free until 24 hours before pickup.
The day before you travel, we send you the driver's name, phone number and number plate. Your driver tracks your flight and waits if it lands late, so a delay on a holiday flight from the Mediterranean does not leave you stranded.
You can choose between:
- Sedan for one to three travellers with standard luggage
- Minivan for families, small groups or extra bags
- VIP vehicle for business arrivals or a more comfortable ride
We also offer chauffeurs by the hour, useful if you have several meetings across Antwerp or the port in one day.
Arriving at Antwerp Airport
Antwerp Airport has a single passenger terminal, which makes it one of the easiest airports in Belgium to find your way through. Walking distances are short, and on a quiet day you can be out of the building soon after leaving the aircraft.
If you arrive from a country outside the Schengen area, such as the United Kingdom, you pass through passport control before reaching the baggage hall. Travellers arriving from Schengen destinations, such as Spain, Italy or France, normally walk straight through to collect their luggage. Have your passport or national ID card ready either way, as checks can still take place.
The baggage reclaim area is on the ground floor and leads directly into the small arrivals hall. Because the terminal is compact, there is essentially one exit from baggage into the public area, so it is hard to miss your driver.
Facilities in the terminal are limited compared with larger hubs. If you need a cash machine, a snack or a SIM card, it is worth checking what is open before you leave the arrivals hall, especially on early-morning or late-evening flights.
Drive times to Antwerp districts and beyond
Because the airport is so close to the city, most transfers within Antwerp are short. Typical drive times in normal traffic are:
- Antwerp Centraal station and the Diamond District: about 10-15 minutes, 5 km
- Old Town, Grote Markt and the Cathedral of Our Lady: about 15-20 minutes, 6 km
- Het Zuid (South district) and the museum quarter: about 15-20 minutes
- Het Eilandje and the MAS museum: about 20 minutes
- Port of Antwerp offices and terminals: about 25-40 minutes, depending on the dock
- Mechelen: about 25 minutes, 20 km
- Brussels city centre: about 45-60 minutes, 45 km
- Ghent: about 50-60 minutes, 60 km
- Breda (Netherlands): about 50 minutes, 60 km
The Antwerp Ring (R1) and the approach roads to the Kennedy Tunnel are among the busiest in Belgium, and weekday rush hours can add considerable time. Antwerp also has a low emission zone covering the city centre; our vehicles are arranged with this in mind, so you do not need to worry about access rules yourself.
Public transport versus a private transfer
Antwerp Airport has no train station of its own. The main public transport option is the De Lijn bus, with a stop just outside the terminal and a service such as bus line 14 running towards the city and Antwerpen-Centraal. Journey time to Centraal is roughly 20-30 minutes, and frequency is lower in the evenings and at weekends.
The bus is a sensible choice for a solo traveller with light luggage heading towards the station. It becomes less convenient if you:
- are carrying large suitcases, golf bags or a pushchair
- need to reach the port, a business park or a hotel away from the tram network
- land late in the evening when services thin out
- are travelling on to Brussels, Ghent or the Netherlands and would otherwise change at Centraal
A private transfer takes you door to door, with no ticket machines, no changes and no waiting at a bus stop. Since the price is per vehicle rather than per person, it often works out well for couples, families and colleagues travelling together, and you know the cost before you leave home.
Where to meet your driver
Your driver waits for you in the arrivals hall, holding a sign with your name on it. At Antwerp Airport the arrivals hall is small and you enter it directly after leaving the baggage reclaim area, so you will usually see your driver as soon as you walk through the doors.
The day before your transfer, we send you the driver's name, mobile number and the vehicle's number plate. Save the number in your phone so you can send a quick message if you are delayed at passport control or waiting for a late bag.
You do not need to call when you land: the driver follows your flight and adjusts to the actual arrival time. If your flight lands late, the driver waits.
Once you have met, the car is parked in the short-stay car park directly in front of the terminal, only a few minutes' walk away. If you have mobility needs or heavy luggage, let us know when booking so the driver can plan accordingly.
Travelling with family or a group
Antwerp Airport handles many holiday flights to and from sunny destinations, so families with children, pushchairs and plenty of luggage are a common sight in the arrivals hall. A private transfer lets everyone travel together in one vehicle, straight to your home, hotel or holiday flat.
For groups, a minivan gives space for several passengers plus suitcases, which is often more practical than splitting into two taxis. The fixed price applies to the whole vehicle, so it does not rise with each extra traveller.
When booking, please tell us:
- the number of adults and children
- the number and size of suitcases, plus items such as golf bags, skis or a wheelchair
- whether you need child seats
This helps us assign the right vehicle. For business teams arriving for a conference or a port visit, a VIP vehicle or a chauffeur by the hour can keep the group together for the rest of the day.
