Private transfers from Lille Airport

Lille Airport is a compact regional airport, which makes the first few minutes after landing straightforward. What often takes longer is the onward journey: the airport is outside the city, and many travellers are heading not only to central Lille but to Roubaix, Tourcoing, Villeneuve-d'Ascq or across the Belgian border.

Booking a private transfer removes the guesswork. You choose your vehicle when you book and pay one fixed price per vehicle, not per passenger, with VAT included. Confirmation is instant, and you can cancel free of charge until 24 hours before pickup.

The day before you travel, you receive your driver's name, phone number and number plate. On the day, your driver tracks your flight, so if you land late they wait for you rather than leaving at the original time.

Choose from:

  • Sedan for one to three travellers with standard luggage
  • Minivan for families, small groups or extra bags
  • VIP vehicles for business travel or a more comfortable arrival

Transfers also work in reverse: we can collect you from your hotel or address in the Lille area and take you to the airport for your departure.

Arriving at Lille Airport

Lille Airport operates from a single passenger terminal, so there is no need to work out which building you are in. Walking distances are short and signage is in French and English.

Most flights to Lille come from within the Schengen area, such as destinations in France, Spain, Italy and Portugal, and these passengers usually walk straight through to baggage reclaim without a passport check. Flights from outside Schengen, for example from Morocco, Algeria or Tunisia, go through passport control first, which can add time when several flights land together.

Baggage reclaim is on the ground floor, and after collecting your bags you pass through customs into the public arrivals hall. Because the terminal is small, you are usually out within a short time of landing on a Schengen flight, though queues for non-Schengen arrivals vary.

If your bag is delayed or lost, report it at the baggage desk before leaving the reclaim area. Your driver is tracking your flight and will see when you have landed, but it is helpful to send a quick message using the phone number you received the day before so they know you are still inside.

Drive times to Lille and the surrounding area

Lille Airport sits close to the A1 and A27 motorways, which gives quick access to the city and to Belgium. Typical drive times in normal traffic are:

  • Lille city centre, Grand Place and Vieux-Lille: 15–25 minutes, about 10 km
  • Lille Europe and Lille Flandres stations, Euralille: 15–20 minutes
  • Villeneuve-d'Ascq (university and business areas): 10–15 minutes
  • Roubaix: 20–30 minutes, about 20 km
  • Tourcoing: 25–35 minutes
  • Kortrijk, Belgium: 35–45 minutes
  • Lens and the Louvre-Lens museum: 30–40 minutes
  • Arras: 40–50 minutes
  • Brussels: around 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, about 110 km

Rush hour around Lille can be heavy, particularly on the ring road and motorway approaches on weekday mornings and late afternoons, so allow extra time then. If you are connecting to a Eurostar or TGV at Lille Europe, tell us your train time when booking so the pickup can be planned with a comfortable margin.

Public transport or a private transfer?

There is no train or metro station at Lille Airport. The main public option is the airport shuttle bus, which runs between the terminal and central Lille, stopping near Lille Europe / Euralille in roughly 20 minutes. It is good value for a solo traveller with light luggage heading to the station area, but services follow a timetable that is linked to flights and may not suit very early or late arrivals.

From the city centre you would then need the metro, tram or a taxi to reach your final address, which means changing with bags. For destinations such as Roubaix, Tourcoing or Belgium, the journey by public transport involves several connections.

A private transfer makes the most sense when:

  • You are travelling with children, several suitcases, sports equipment or a pushchair
  • You are arriving late in the evening or leaving early in the morning
  • Your destination is outside central Lille or across the border
  • You have a tight connection to a train at Lille Europe or Lille Flandres
  • You are a group, where one fixed price per vehicle often compares well with several individual tickets

Your driver takes you door to door, without changes, and waits if your flight is delayed.

Where to meet your driver

Your driver meets you in the arrivals hall, holding a sign with your name on it. After you collect your luggage and pass through customs, you come out into the public area of the terminal, on the ground floor, and your driver will be waiting there.

Because Lille Airport has one terminal and one main arrivals exit, finding each other is normally easy. To make things smooth:

  • Keep your phone switched on after landing; you will have received your driver's name, phone number and number plate the day before
  • If you are held up at passport control or baggage reclaim, send your driver a short message
  • Do not leave the terminal to look for the car; your driver will come to you in the arrivals hall and walk you to the vehicle

As your driver tracks your flight, there is no need to rebook if you land earlier or later than scheduled. For departures, your driver collects you from the address you gave and drops you at the departures entrance of the terminal.

Families, groups and business travellers

Lille is a popular weekend destination for families, and the city also hosts trade fairs and conferences at Lille Grand Palais, so groups and business travellers arrive regularly.

For families, a minivan gives room for children, pushchairs and suitcases in one vehicle, with no need to split up or wait for two taxis. Please let us know the ages of any young children when booking so we can discuss suitable seating.

For groups attending an event or a wedding, booking one or more minivans at a fixed price per vehicle keeps everyone together and makes costs easy to share. If several flights are arriving at different times, you can book separate transfers so nobody waits unnecessarily.

Business travellers often choose a VIP vehicle for meetings in Euralille or Villeneuve-d'Ascq, or for onward trips to Brussels or Kortrijk. If your schedule includes several appointments in a day, consider booking a chauffeur by the hour instead of single transfers, so your driver stays with you between meetings and you are not looking for taxis around the city.
